Your children. Our future.
A Nature-Based, Child-Centred.
The Free School Childcare Co-Op is a child-led and play-based learning environment inspired by the philosophies of Forest School, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia. Our program supports growth through nature, real-world experiences, and safe risk-taking in play.
Exploration Every Day
Children are encouraged to explore long-term creative art projects, follow their own rhythms, and engage meaningfully with their surroundings. Days often include gardening, growing and preparing food, hiking through conservation areas, and swimming in the lake during summer months.
Building Empathy Through Care
We work with insects and rescue animals to foster empathy and a deep sense of responsibility. These hands-on experiences help children learn to care for living things and understand their place in the natural world.
A Program Shaped by Children
We help children help shape their own learning. We listen to their ideas, support their curiosity, and adapt the program to reflect their evolving interests. This is a place where young minds grow freely, guided by care and respect.
Learning Through Mixed Age Groups
Our mixed age model encourages leadership, independence, and collaboration. Younger children learn from older peers, while older children develop confidence and responsibility through mentorship.
Fostering Awareness and Independence
We focus on environmental awareness, physical confidence, and emotional resilience. Children are supported as they build the skills to navigate their world with care and self assurance.
